What I noticed with our bathrooms is that depending on the age of our kids or my wife’s need for a quiet place to soak in a tub, these needs or wants can be a moving target. When my wife was pregnant with the twins a the clawfoot tub was a beautiful place for her to soak and later a great place to have fun bath times with the boys. As they grew up, they wanted a shower so here came the second bathroom remodel. It’s a fun place to work on and a redesign can be eye-catching.
In this bathroom the layout really didn’t work. You walked right into the bathtub when opening the door, so we decided to change the look and feel of the whole room. Also, the kids were bigger and preferred a shower instead of a tub. The colors are fairly neutral with some warmth in the walls and heated bathroom floor for a cozy feel.
This was one of the bathrooms we undated for my friends home. This bathroom needed a full remodel including moisture protections and new tiles and design.
For a primary bath this was a very small one and the owner wanted to create access to the back where the hot tub is located. The family had to walk through the house and kitchen to get to the hot tub. The challenge was getting rid of all the storage and where to put the sink to open up the wall with the new door. I thought a box Bay would do the trick and basically put the sink outside the home with the now beautiful view over the valley, we got rid of the cabinets and instead made a thicker wall between shower and toilet to create storage. The door is a full light door with built-in blinds for privacy and they now have easy access to the hot tub and a quick shower afterwards.
This project had a different challenge as the owner wanted the bathroom remodeled in seven days. They had tenants living in the rental unit and the bathroom needed to be remodeled for various reasons. With lots of planning and long days we managed to get it done.
We had to straighten out some walls, replace some plumbing, add some lights and fan but with a can-do attitude we got it done. Obviously it is a little bit more expensive to do it this way and not too many roadblocks possible or we could not have gotten it done. Very happy with the result.
